My Little Mommies
My sows are selected, like the boars, based on their physical attributes, temperament and ability to produce good or better offspring. When in breeding, I pair the girls up so that if one has only one baby and another has 3 or 4, they will share mommy duties. All of my cavies are free-fed pelleted feed and hay and given fresh foods daily. The mommies also get extra oats and larger portions of fresh treats. The girls and their babies get lots of time in our exercise pens and being held. Cavies usually wean their babies between 2 and 3 weeks. Some will nurse longer. All of my girls are in breeding coats. 4/2/12 update: retired a lot of the girls to pet homes. I'll update with the newer ones we kept after our next show.
Stylish Fame, cream & white Texel sow born 11/22/10
Dynasty's Ricky Bobby (r/w texel) x Cutie Pie Acres Fierce (crm/wht texel). Fame is a cutie and looks like she'll be a litter bigger than 1/2 sisters Mochi and Ferosh.
Fame has 4 grand champion legs with tough competition. A grand champion leg is earned when a cavy (or rabbit) beats at least 4 other piggies owned by 2 other people. So, you need 3 owners and 5 pigs for 1 leg. Fame was only taken to a couple shows, so this is a lovely accomplishment!

Stylish American Girl, broken black & white Texel sow born 7/31/2010
Adventure's King x CPA Black Beauty. Although she's in breeding now, American Girl is one of my favorite home-grown piggies.

Stylish Angelina Ballerina, cream & white Texel sow
CH Casablanca (black/white texel) - Stylish Mochi (cream/white texel). Angelina is a big, beautiful girl. Never was shown but is slightly better than "Fame" who did quite well.
Stylish Polly Pocket, la/cream/white Texel sow 2/15/11
Adventure's King - Adventure's Thumbelina. She's just too sweet! I've loved Polly since she was born. Her coat is much better looking in person.
Stylish Foxfire, red & white Texel sow 7/1/11
Cavies Rock Beauregard - Stylish Ferosh. Foxfire was chewed down over the summer and I re-grew her hair over 2 months before the RRBA shows. She got a 3rd and a 4th. Not great but not bad for 2 months' growth either. Since I can't have summer litters, her show career ended and she was put in breeding when we got back home.
Fast Track Snow White, himalayan Texel 2010
From Fast Track caviary in Indiana. She's super friendly. All these himis are! From their first day, they all come for treats. Excellent curl and texture here.
CPA's "Giselle," himalayan Texel sow, 2010
From Cutie Pie Acres in CA. NO MISMARKS! Very nice smut. Solid feet. Solid ears. Jackie bred a keeper here and I'm glad she let me have her. It's really tricky getting a well marked himi. Now, let's see if I can do that for myself ;-)
I now also have Giselle's sisters, Himi and Pearl. And her niece. And various other relations. This winter when the color points re-darken, I'll line everyone up for a picture. They look too similar for me to post individual pictures of all the himalayans here :-)

CPA's Himi, himalayan Texel sow
Full sister to Giselle, no mismarks here either! himi is just as jolly and sweet as the other himalayan sows.
Here's the group picture of my himi texel sows and a couple baby boars. L-R: Snow White, Giselle, Snow Angel, baby, baby, baby, Sugar, Himi and Alpine.

Stylish Ashley, buff & white Texel sow 7/21/11
CPA's Edward (himalayan) - CPA's Black Beauty (self black). Ashley may be a broken buff & white, but she's for the himalayan program as she carries self and himi genes. We'll see how she produces! I am breeding her to a self red to start to see if she'll throw mismarks (although he's a mismark, too), which would likely also produced mismarked himis. *sigh*
SL Flicka, self black Texel sow 2011
Goes back to CPA Black Beauty. This girl is hard to photograph and likes to go go GO. She is outgoing, easy to hold and loves eating treats. She reminds me of her grandmother and I am so glad she's here!
SL Rosie, self red Texel sow 2011
Goes back to CPA Black Beauty. Very sweet girl with good curl and bright color. Rosie was an impulse buy, I love this bright red! She's in breeding with my TSW boar, Mr. Darcy.
Val's Sprinkles, silver agouti Peruvian sow /2010
Bred by Valerie Blaes, DVM, "Val's Pals." Sprinkles is already coming to the side of her cage for treats--and she's only been here one night! What a sweetie. She's replacing Sparkleworks in my breeding program. Great type and head. Good density. Lovely color.
Val's Elektra, dilute silver agouti Peruvian sow
Cute cute cute! Chocolate based agouti. Hopefully bred to a ga dilute carrier boar but we'll see. Otherwise, normal agoutis in the next few months.
Galatea Shine, silver agouti (possible roan) satin peruvian 2011
Bred to Stylish Jonah!
MSC Eve, broken black & white Silkie sow 2010
Goes back to Silver Lining silkies. My daughter wanted her and, having just gotten 3 for myself, I couldn't say no. Eve has a darling head, thick mane and good type. Slightly small.
