Good boars are vital to a good breeding program.
I select and use boars based on their physical characteristics and ability to pass on their good traits to their offspring (phenotype) and not so much on their pedigree. I keep pedigrees on the animals I breed and record their weights and how they produced however not all of my breeding boars came with pedigrees. Below are some of our foundation boars. Many of my current boars are pictured in the various "Show Cavies" pages. I do have many other boars not pictured on this page! :-)
Cavies Rock Beauregard, red/white Texel born 5/7/09
KSJ Sir Frederick - KSJ Peaches & Cream. Bred by the ladies at Cavies Rock Caviary, shown by Jackie Grisafi (Cutie Pie Acres). Bo is here for his retirement and is my special boy and a total joy. His favorite things are sows and hanging out in the kitchen eating snacks. Bo is in breeding coat, for a picture of his show coat, click "What's New" and scroll down.

Adventure's King, Black/Cream/White Texel born 3/28/09
Sire--HD's TJ, black/cream/white Texel boar Dam--Cutie Pie Acre's Pandora, black/white Texel bred by Christina with "Cavy Adventures Caviary" in Southern California. http://cavyadventures.piczo.com/?cr=1 is her website. "King" is my toughest boar when it comes to being around other boars. At a mere 32 oz., he's a lot of spunk for his size. King very often runs loose in my yard and caviary. He enjoys this. The dogs like to try herding him but he jumps at them. It's good to be the King.
Stylish Red Butler, REO/white Texel born 3/22/10
Adventure's King - Adventure's Thumbelina. Red has good curls and type. Very happy with him. =) Red is in breeding now.

Stylish Mr. Darcy, TSW Texel boar
Cavies Rock Beauregard (r/w texel) - Stylish American Girl (b/w texel). Mr.Darcy has one grand champion leg with limited showing and is now in breeding. He's a very lovely boar whose red and black are rich. This is a much-loved piggy and we look forward to seeing what he produces!
CPA's "Edward", himalayan Texel boar 2010
Edward is my foundation boar for my himalayan texel program. Between breedings, I had him by himself and his coat grew faster and curlier than some of my show piggies. No, I didn't get a picture. :( Edward is mismarked (white feet) and can not be shown but I'm pleased with the quality and temperaments of his offspring.
Stylish Richard, himalayan Texel boar
CPA's Richard (himi texel) - CPA's Giselle (himi texel). Good curl and texture, good smut, well-marked. BIG. Richard is a keeper! Richard is the far left boar. This is Richard, Everest, Cottonball, Mycroft and Richard. Yes, if I can tell them apart.
Stylish Mycroft Holmes, himalayan Texel boar
CPA's Edward (himi texel) - Fast Track's Snow White (himi texel). I changed his name from "Cream." He isn't cream colored and I might want to name a cream one that later. Excellent curl and texture. Very good smut. Flesh spots on feet :-/ He's named after the dairy product, in case you were wondering.
Stylish Fireworks, Golden agouti Peruvian born 10/27/09
Sire--Stylish Wrangler Dam--Stylish Sparkleworks, silver agouti Peruvian sow. Fireworks has a couple of litters on the ground now and I'm pleased with what he's producing. His frontal is good and texture is good. I would like more density of coat but his isn't bad. He needs regular hair cuts since his hair seems to grow like weeds!
